Former Kirkwood baseball player Shane Kemp, a right-handed pitcher from Waterloo, was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 26th round of the Major League draft Tuesday.

Kemp compiled a 3-2 record and 4.18 ERA at George Washington University this season. He had a 1-0 mark and 5.68 ERA at Kirkwood in 2014. He also hit .288 for the Eagles in 2014.

Kemp, from Waterloo Columbus High School, was the 787th pick overall in the draft.
