PDF

The Cedar Rapids Prairie softball team lost half of its lead in the Mississippi Division Thursday night when it split a doubleheader with Iowa City High at the Prairie field.

Prairie won the first game, 1-0, on a three-hit shutout by Shelby Frederick. Iowa City High rebounded with a 5-2 victory in the nightcap for only its third victory of the season.

Prairie fell to 12-6 in the Mississippi Division, now just one game ahead of Xavier and Waterloo West at 11-7 with eight games left in the MVC campaign.

Frederick struck out five batters and did not walk anyone in the 1-0 victory. Anne Cerveny collected the only RBI in the game.

Rylie Kane was the losing pitching for Prairie in the nightcap.

Prairie's overall record is 19-9. Iowa City High is 3-15 in the conference and 3-19 overall.
