Alicia Steepleton of Marion is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Steepleton, a sophomore, has made major contributions as a hitter and pitcher for the Marion softball team this season.

She is hitting .519 with 17 RBIs in only eight games. And she has a 5-2 record and 3.43 ERA record as Marion's top pitcher.

The Indians have a 7-4 record, but Steepleton did not play in three of those games.

Steepleton collected four RBIs in victories over Vinton-Shellsburg and Cedar Rapids Prairie. She had three RBIs in a victory over Clayton Ridge.
