Manny Jeffery of Linn-Mar High School is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Jeffery, a junior, is one of the top all-around players in the Metro area for the Linn-Mar baseball team as a pitcher and outfielder.

Jeffery is hitting .381 with two home runs and 21 RBIs. He has 43 hits in 35 games and is 18-for-18 in stolen bases.

As a pitcher, Jeffery has a 6-1 record and 2.08 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 40.1 innings. And as a fielder, he has not been charged with a single error during the entire season.

Jeffery has the top batting average for the Lions and the most wins.

Linn-Mar (24-11) will host Cedar Falls (21-13) in the semifinals of the Class 4A substate tournament Monday at 7 p.m.
