Cedar Rapids Kennedy senior Sierra Hargens has accepted a full scholarship to play golf at Indiana State University.

Hargens has won eight tournaments this summer, including the prestigious IGA Iowa Junior Championships in Mason City. She received a number of scholarship offers after capturing that two-day event.

Hargens had a stroke average of 85.71 last season as a junior, but has been rapidly improving since getting a relatively late start in the sport.

She did not join the Kennedy golf team until she was a sophomore. She previously focused on softball.

Hargens has played in 16 tournaments this summer. In addition to the eight victories, she's had two second-place finishes.

She committed to Indiana State on Thursday.
