The ninth-ranked Kirkwood volleyball team lost two matches to national powers Saturday at the Kirkwood Invitational at Johnson Hall.

The Eagles fell to 15th-ranked Johnson County, 25-15 25-18, 25-23, and lost to 13th-ranked McHenry in a squeaker, 25-23, 25-15, 15-25, 21-25, 17-15.

The losses dropped Kirkwood to 13-4 for the season.

Madsy Richards had 10 kills for Kirkwood against Johnson County. Halle Lueck collected 30 assists. Jenna Laxton had 10 digs and Erica Armstrong contributed five blocks.

Erin Wenzel had 18 kills against McHenry. Lueck finished with 48 assists. Morgan Grimm contributed 13 digs.
