RoughRiders beat Lincoln in opener

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders got goals from seven different players Saturday night and topped Lincoln, 7-4, in the USHL opener before 2,502 fans at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

Neither team scored in the first period, but both clubs got hot in the second stanza.

John Snodgrass, Matt Filipe, Ben Foley and Justin Cole all found the net for the RoughRiders in the second period, but Lincoln scored three times and it was a 4-3 game heading into the final period.

Lincoln tallied to tie the game, 4-4, but the RoughRiders got goals from Luke Morgan, Jacob Hayhurst and Hugh McGing to begin their season in style. McGing scored into an empty net.

Ryan Larkin made 20 saves for Cedar Rapids.
