Logan Hagmeier of Linn-Mar is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Hagmeier played a magnificent game on defense for the Linn-Mar football team Friday night when the Lions upset then-No. 9 Cedar Falls, 31-24, at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

Hagmeier, a linebacker, made 15 solo tackles in the ballgame, including seven solo tackles for losses behind the line of scrimmage. He also was credited with an assist for 15 1/2 stops in the game.

Hagmeier is a 6-foot, 205-pound senior. He's made 51 solo tackles this year in seven games, including 12 solo tackles for losses and three sacks. He also has two fumble recoveries.

The victory over Cedar Falls lifted Linn-Mar to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in Class 4A District 5. The Lions are in good shape to earn a spot in the playoffs with two games left in the regular season.
