SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Stephanie Jenks of Linn-Mar High School captured first place at the Nike Cross Heartland regional meet at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. S.D., on Sunday.

Jenks covered the 5K course in 17 minutes, 1.3 seconds. She won the race by 10.8 seconds in a field of 273 runners from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Jenks qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals at the Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Ore., on Saturday, Dec. 5.

High school runners from eight Nike regionals from around the country will be participating in the national meet.

Jenks, a senior, has committed to run in college at Cal-Berkeley.
