Marion girls nipped in bowling

The Marion girls bowling team ralled in the Baker rotation, but the Indians fell just short against Maquoketa in a 2,452 to 2,423 loss Thursday at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

The Indians trailed 1,665 to 1,551 after the first round and out-rolled Maquoketa 872 to 787 in the Baker rotation, but it wasn’t enough.

Bre Smith had a 187 game and a 348 series for Marion.

Kelsey Dodds had a 386 series for Maquoketa.

MAQUOKETA: Kelsey Dodds 214-172=386, Allison Furne 183-171=354, Elly Flenker 128-188=316, Ashley Wells 146-162=308, Cherokee Traman 135-166=301, Sabrie Gregory 89-116=205.

MARION: Bre Smith 187-161=348, Alexis Smith 178-154=332, Aleann Romo 135-169=304, Alicia Steepleton 176-127=303, Alyssa Rose 123-141=264, Madison Baker 110-126=236.

Maquoketa: 1,665-787=2,452.

Marion: 1,551-872=2,423.
