Rhodes leads No.9 Eagles by NIACC

MASON CITY - Hunter Rhodes paraded to the foul line and 21 points Saturday as the ninth-ranked Kirkwood men's basketball team topped NIACC, 93-73, in an ICCAC conference game in Mason City.

Rhodes was 13 for 14 at the foul line and made a pair of 3-pointers in the contest. Nick Richards contributed 17 points for the Eagles (19-3, 5-1). Josh Bartlett popped in five 3-pointers and scored 15 points. Cristen Wilson also had 15 points for Kirkwood.

Kirkwood trailed by 10 points in the first half and rallied for a slim 40-38 lead at halftime. The Eagles outscored NIACC 53-35 in the second half for the comfortable victory.

Rhodes collected seven rebounds and six assists. Richards had six rebounds.

Bob Van Vilet, a 6-foot-4 guard from the Netherlands, poured in 28 points for NIACC (13-9, 1-5).
