The Kirkwood Eagles will face Ellsworth in the opening round of the Regional XI-A softball tournament Friday at 2 p.m. at the Kirkwood field.

Southwestern will meet Iowa Lakes Friday at 4 p.m. in the other opener.

Kirkwood (49-4) is the No. 1 seed in the regional. Southwestern (25-24) is seeded fourth, Iowa Lakes (24-20) is fifth and Ellsworth (6-45) is eighth.

The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. The finals are Sunday at 12 p.m., with a second championship game Sunday at 2 p.m. if needed in the double-elimination tournament.

The regional champion will advance to the district tournament. The district champion will qualify for the national tournament.

Kirkwood compiled a 4-0 record during the regular season against all three opponents in the regional.
