PDF

BOONE - The Kirkwood Eagles scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning Friday to trim DMACC, 7-6, and split their conference doubleheader in Boone.

DMACC won the first game, 9-3.

The split left the 13th-ranked Eagles with an 18-4 record in the ICCAC Conference, leaving them in a tight battle with 18th-ranked Southeastern (19-5) and 12th-ranked NIACC (17-5) for the title.

Jack Fitzgerald drove in three runs for Kirkwood in the nightcap. General McArthur was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Emanuel Castellano picked up the victory in relief and Dariel Checo pitched the bottom of the ninth for a save.

Kirkwood and DMACC are scheduled to play another twinbill Sunday.

Kirkwood (32-14) will finish the conference race next weekend with two doubleheaders against Southeastern, with one twinbill in West Burlington Friday and the other doubleheader at Kirkwood Saturday.
