CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Kirkwood women's volleyball team will be hoping to finish seventh at the NJCAA Division II national tournament for the second straight year when they face Coffeyville Saturday morning at the Charleston Civic Center.
The Eagles lost to Sauk Valley, 3-1, in a consolation match Friday, giving them a 1-2 record in the tournament so far.
Kirkwood won the first game, 25-23, but Sauk Valley captured the next three games 25-13, 27-25, 25-19.
Margaret Micka and Alex Miner led the Eagles with 13 kills. Erica Armstrong had 10 kills and Alexa Whipple had eight.
Caiti Peterson finished with 48 assists for Kirkwood. Jenna Laxton led the Eagles in digs with 15. Armstrong blocked five shots.
Kirkwood's record fell to 33-10.
The Eagles have been playing without Madsy Richards, the conference MVP this season who is sidelined with a knee injury suffered in the regional tournament.
