WAVERLY - JD Goodfellow fired a 2-under-par 70 to help Kirkwood take a  15-shot lead after the first round of the Wartburg Invitational Friday  at the Prairie Links golf course.

Louis Flynn, Niall Powell and Max Thrune of Kirkwood all toured the  6,614-yard course in Waverly at even-par 72.

The Eagles stand in first place at 289. Simpson is second at 304 in  the 12-team field.

The final round is scheduled for Saturday.
