Mount Mercy runners claim titles

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Both of the Mount Mercy cross country teams captured top honors at the Bakersfield College Invitational Friday in California.

James Lindstrom and Aaron Goldin of Mount Mercy finished 1-2 in the men's competition to lead the Mustangs to the team championship. Lindstrom won the four-mile race in 22 minutes, 6 seconds.

McKenna Johnson of Mount Mercy placed third in the women's race to pace the Mustangs to the overall crown. She covered the 5 kilometer race in 20 minutes, 37 seconds.

There were five teams in both events.

1. Mount Mercy 22, 2. Clovis Community College 43, 3. Bakersfield 87, 4. Ventura 93, 5. Canyons 112.

Mount Mercy - 1. James Lindstrom 22:06, 2. Aaron Golding 22:32, 5. Colton Forster 22:50, 6. Michael Marshall 22:52, 8. Jacob Blackmon 23:07.

WOMEN'S TEAM STANDINGS

1. Mount Mercy 33, 2. Ventura 53, 3. Bakersfield 84, 4. Canyons 96, 5. Clovis Community College 108.
