Babcock ties for Eastman golf title

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Will Babcock of Kirkwood tied for first place at the Ronnie Eastman Invitational at the La Crosse Country Club Tuesday.

Babcock competed as an individual and did not count in the team standings for the Eagles. He fired rounds of 75 and 73 for a 36-hole total of 148, tying Isaac Westlake of Winona State and Ben Phipps of Luther for the title on the par-72 course.

Ryan Morrison of Kirkwood tied for fourth place to help Kirkwood finish in second place in the team standings. He shot rounds of 76 and 74 for a 36-hole score 150, just two shots behind the leaders.

Winona State won the team championship at 603. Kirkwood placed second at 610, seven shots off the lead.

Ben Epperly of Kirkwood tied for seventh place and Dawson Peters tied for ninth place for the Eagles.

Kirkwood is currently ranked No. 3 in the country in NJCAA Division II men's golf. The Eastman Invitational included four-year schools and two-year schools like Kirkwood.
