Mount Mercy women dump Waldorf

The Mount Mercy women's basketball team turned on the jets in the second half and defeated Waldorf, 66-57, in a non-conference game at the Hennessey Recreation Center Tuesday night.

The Mustangs trailed by 12 points at intermission, but they outscored Waldorf 42-21 in the second half for the nine-point triumph.

Mount Mercy has begun the new season with three straight victories after finishing 7-24 a year ago.

Aurianna Hampton came off the bench to pump in 20 points in 22 minutes for the Mustangs. Brianna Thomas finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Sharice Kawakami contributed 11 points. Chelsey Lampe grabbed eight rebounds.

Mount Mercy had 15 steals in the ballgame.

Taylor Fricke scored 18 points for Waldorf (0-3).
