ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Luke Nickelson of Mount Mercy won two events at the Viking Invitational track meet Saturday at Augustana College.

Nickelson captured the long jump at 7.04 meters and also took the triple jump at 13.98 meters.

Kathryn Vander Poel won the 1500 meter run to lead a strong performance by Mount Mercy women in the event. Vander Poel finished first in 4 minutes, 51.34 seconds, with Andrea Ertz placing second in 4:53.38 and Vanessa Cortes taking fourth in 4:56.90.

James Lindstrom of Mount Mercy took fourth in the men's 1500 in 4:05.34. Connor Christopherson was sixth in the 400 meter dash in 51.27 seconds.

The Mount Mercy men finished ninth out of 28 teams with 32 points. The Mount Mercy women placed 13th out of 24 teams with 30 points.

Augustana College, the host school, won both team championships.
