Strong pitching lifts Mustang baseball

Dylan Campbell and Tanner Lohaus sparkled on the mound Saturday as Mount Mercy swept a non-conference doubleheader from Lincoln College, 4-1 and 6-1, at the Plaster Athletic Complex.

The twin-killing lifted the Mustangs to 19-18 for the campaign.

Campbell (4-4) pitched six innings in the 4-1 victory in the opener, allowing one run on six hits. He struck out three batters and did not walk anyone. Matt Trouten got the final three outs in the seventh for his fifth save.

Lohaus (4-4) picked up where Campbell left off in Game 2. He went the distance and allowed one run on three hits, with 11 strikeouts and one walk.

Cayle Webster drove in two runs for the Mustangs in the first game. Nick Sueppel was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs in the nightcap. Kobi Candaroma had two hits in Game 2.

Lincoln College fell to 3-11.
