Ironside Apparel sweeps IWSL twinbill

Ironside Apparel swept a doubleheader from Emil's Hideaway, 7-0 and  5-3, to highlight the second week of the Iowa Women's Softball League  at Busse Field Sunday.

Bosch Financial rallied to tie Hawkeye Convenience Stores, 5-5, in the  first game of their twinbill. Bosch took the second game, 4-2.

Bosch Financial leads the IWSL standings with a 3-0-1 record. Ironside  Apparel is sitting in second place at 3-1-0. The two leaders clash  June 16 at Busse Field at 3 p.m.

IRONSIDE APPAREL 7,
EMIL'S HIDEAWAY 0

Jordyn Kleman of Winona State tossed a five-hit shutout with six  strikeouts as Ironside Apparel blanked Emil's Hideaway, 7-0, in the  first game of their doubleheader.

Haley McFarlane of Saint Cloud State belted a three-run double off the  wall in left-center field and finished 2-for-2 with two runs and four  RBIs.

 

IRONSIDE APPAREL 5,
EMIL'S HIDEAWAY 3

Erica Oler of UNI pitched a complete game for Ironside Apparel in  their 5-3 verdict over Emil's Hideaway in the second game of their  doubleheader. She pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts.

Jen Giesey of Winona State hit a two-run double for Ironside Apparel.  Oler helped her own cause with two hits and an RBI double. Shelby  Hulsebus of Kirkwood had two hits. Emily Oler of Mount Mercy belted an  RBI triple to support her sister.

Abbi Carlin of Western Illinois scored twice for Emil's Hideaway and  pitched five strong innings in relief. Taylor Kurtz from the  University of Dubuque was 2-for-3 with an RBI double.

BOSCH FINANCIAL 5,
HAWKEYE CONVENIENCE STORES 5

Bosch Financial scored twice in the bottom of the last inning to forge  a 5-5 tie with Hawkeye Convenience Stores in the first game of their  doubleheader.

Bosch Financial had the bases loaded with nobody out after tying the  game, but Jenna Schwartzhoff got the final three outs to end the  contest and preserve the deadlock.

Tianna Drahn of UNI roped a triple and scored for Hawkeye Convenience  Stores. Tara Lance of Saint Ambrose, Monika Bevans from UNI, Brie  Tauber of Clarke and Kylie Biedermann of Dubuque collected RBIs.

Autumn McDanel of Belmont, Caitlyn Cruise of Clarke, Kaylee Watson of  Grand View and Emma McDanel of Iowa Wesleyan had RBIs for Bosch  Financial.

McDanel and Schwartzhoff tossed complete games.

HAWKEYE CONVENIENCE STORES 2

KyLeigh Becker of Loras allowed only one hit in the last four innings  of the ballgame as Bosch Financial trimmed Hawkeye Convenience Stores,  4-2, in the second game of their twinbill.

Elison Ollinger of Belmont ripped a triple and scored on an RBI single  by Lexi Merritt of Grand View. Emma Valainis of UNI and Georgia Porter  of Simpson also had RBIs for Bosch Financial.

Drahn and Brooke Goodman of Dubuque had RBIs for Hawkeye Convenience  Stores. Emma Olejniczak of UNI pitched a strong game for Hawkeye  Convenience Stores, allowing only four hits with seven strikeouts.
