No. 13 Kirkwood spiked by Northeast

The Kirkwood Eagles were serving for set point and a 2-0 lead in their match against Northeast Wednesday night, but the contest went poorly  for the Eagles after that.

Northeast topped the Eagles, 3-1, in an ICCAC contest at Johnson Hall.

Kirkwood won the first set 25-22 and was serving with a 24-23 lead in the second set, but Northeast took that second set 26-24 and then  coasted in the final two sets, 25-15 and 25-16.

The loss dropped the Eagles to 13-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Northeast, which is not ranked, raised its records to 11-8 overall and  4-0 in the league.

Aubrin Dittmer led Kirkwood with 14 kills. Abbie Ericson had 11, Taylor Carey 10 and Anna Gorsich nine.

Madi Wagaman had 42 assists. Gorsich made 23 digs, Dittmer 22 and Maranda Wheelock 20. Ericson blocked five shots.

Olivia Richards, a starter for Kirkwood, missed the contest with a sprained ankle.
