Mount Mercy spikers trimmed by Graceland

The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team was trimmed by Graceland in five sets, 3-2, in a Heart of America Conference match at the Hennessey Recreation Center Sunday.

Graceland won the first two sets, but the Mustangs dominated the third and fourth sets before falling short. The visitors prevailed 25-23, 25-18, 15-25, 16-25, 15-11.

Maddie Bell had 14 kills and six blocks for Mount Mercy. Olivia Makinen finished with nine kills and 15 digs. Kayla Daggett had 42 assists, 12 digs and four aces.

Haley Stecklein contributed 27 digs and Madelyn Orton had 22. Abbi Tunis blocked seven shots.

Mount Mercy fell to 12-7 overall and 2-4 in the conference. Graceland raised its records to 6-15 overall and 2-5 in the league.
