LINN-MAR BOYS WIN 4A STATE TITLE -- Linn-Mar did not win a single event Saturday, but the Lions' depth powered them to the Class 4A state track title at Des Moines ... Josh Evans was second in the 1600 and third in the 800 ... Perrion Scott was second in the 200 and third in the 100 ... The Lions also were third in the 4x100 relay ..... Kamin 3rd in MVC golf tourney

IOWA CITY --Linn-Mar had five golfers in the top 10 places and ran away with the MVC Mississippi Division girls golf tournament Monday at Pleasant Valley Golf Course.

Monday's meet was the second leg of the tournament series to determine the MVC division champions. The Lions came into Monday with a five-stroke lead over Dubuque Senior after last week's Super Meet.

Linn-Mar shot 365 as a team and finished with a 20-stroke advantage over second-place Dubuque Wahlert. Senior was third, 30 strokes back. Kennedy was fifth and Washington seventh.

Kennedy's Ali Lindo shot an 80 to finish second Monday. She also finished second overall with a two-round total of 168.

Dubuque Wahlert's Amy Ihm was medalist with a 72. She shot 73 in the first round to finish as overall medalist with a 145. Ihm was named the Mississippi Division player of the year.

Washington's MJ Kamin was third and Linn-Mar's Julie Pople fourth.

Other Lions finishing in the top 10 were Katie Harding (sixth), Rachel Thrune (tied for seventh) and CJ Davis and Danielle Toy (tied for ninth).

Linn-Mar's Steve Kahler was named Mississippi Division coach of the Year.
