Iowa City West takes early lead in MVC swim

Iowa City West finished first, third and fourth in Thursday night's diving to take an early lead in the Mississippi Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the Washington pool.

West's Jacintha Thomas claimed a 40-point win over second place Hannah Brummel of Cedar Falls.

Linn-Mar had three divers finish in the top nine. Sophomore Alyssa Deuso led the Lions with a fifth place finish. Mikaela Lengwin was eighth and Georgia Sanderson ninth.

Washington's Amy Parker was seventh.

Kennedy's Victoria Spaulding was 10th and Carolyn Simon 12th.
