Cedar Valley girls nipped by Sigourney

MARENGO – Candace Wilson scored 25 points and Molly Hembera added 19, but the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball lost to Sigourney, 64-59, in a Class 1A regional quarterfinal game Tuesday.

Wilson had 10 rebounds and Maggie Cach grabbed nine rebounds for the Huskies, who finished 10-12.

Sierra Davis scored 29 points to lead Sigourney (14-9).

Cedar Valley boys finish 1-20

WYOMING - The Cedar Valley Christian boys basketball team finished the season with a 1-20 record Monday night after losing to Midland of Wyoming, 77-22, in the Class 1A regional tournament at Midland.

Kelvin Ridder led the Huskies with 11 points.

Brandon Dirks scored 16 points for Midland (10-12).

Cedar Valley boys fall to Alburnett

ALBURNETT – The Cedar Valley Christian boys basketball team ended the regular season with a 59-21 loss to Alburnett in a Tri-Rivers Conference game Friday.

Kelvin Ridder scored 10 points and had nine rebounds for the Huskies (1-20).

Ryan Moyle led the Pirates (14-7) with 17 points.

Cedar Valley girls net upset victory

MARENGO - The Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team upset Iowa Valley, 55-47, in the opening round of the Class 1A regional tournament Thursday night on Iowa Valley's home floor in Marengo.

The Huskies (10-11) will face Sigourney (13-9) in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Marengo.

Candace Wilson collected 17 points, 16 rebounds and four assists for Cedar Valley. Molly Hembera scored 14 points. Maggie Cach finished with a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Emma Slagle hit three 3-pointers and contributed 11 points.

Cedar Valley has set a school record with its 10 victories this season.

Iowa Valley fell to 17-5 with the defeat. Marissa Ward scored 25 points.

Geels enjoys big game for Huskies

CLINTON - Travis Geels collected a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds Monday night as the Cedar Valley Christian boys basketball team lost a Tri-Rivers Conference game to Prince of Peace, 74-40, in Clinton.

Kyle Gustafson and Kelvin Ridder grabbed seven rebounds for the Huskies (0-10, 1-18).

Will Andersen scored 18 points for Prince of Peace (5-5, 10-10).
