No. 12 Indian Hills sweeps KCC volleyball

Indian Hills Community College swept Kirkwood, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21, in  a non-conference volleyball match at Johnson Hall Thursday night.

Indian Hills, which is ranked No. 12 in NJCAA Division I volleyball,  raised its record to a perfect 11-0. Kirkwood, which is ranked No. 8  in NJCAA Division II, fell to 11-5.

Maranda Wheelock had 23 digs for Kirkwood.

No. 8 Eagles roll by Ellsworth

IOWA FALLS - The eighth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team rolled to a 25-12, 25-5, 25-14 victory over Ellsworth in an ICCAC conference match in Iowa Falls Wednesday night.

Abbie Ericson led the Eagles with 11 kills. Aubrin Dittmer, Shauntina Williams and Maggie Peters had five apiece.

Madi Wagaman notched 18 assists and Rachael Nelson added 12. Olivia Richards had three aces. Maranda Wheelock made eight digs and Richards had seven.

Kirkwood - Volleyball

No. 9 Eagles dominate own tournament

The ninth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team had a great time in  its own tournament this weekend.

The Eagles swept two matches Saturday to finish the two-day event with  a 4-0 record, with the highlight being a five-set victory over  top-ranked Parkland on Friday.

Kirkwood swept Central (Neb.), 26-24, 25-17, 25-12, in its first match  Saturday and rolled by McHenry, 25-12, 25-16, 25-17.

The Eagles raised their record to 10-4 with the perfect weekend.

Taylor Carey blocked 15 shots Saturday, with 10 blocks against Central  and five more against McHenry. She also had 12 kills in the two matches.

Kirkwood - Volleyball

KCC volleyball stuns No. 1 Parkland

The Kirkwood women's volleyball team pulled off a stunning upset in the first round of its own tournament Friday.

The ninth-ranked Eagles whipped top-ranked Parkland, 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 15-11, in an exciting match at Johnson Hall.

Parkland (17-1) suffered its first and only loss of the season. Kirkwood raised its record to 8-4 with two wins Friday.

Anna Gorsich led the Eagles with 14 kills and 21 digs against Parkland. Aubrin Dittmer and Abbie Ericson had 13 kills. Maggie Peters contributed eight kills and blocked seven shots.

Madi Wagaman had 26 assists against Parkland and Rachael Nelson had 19. Maranda Wheelock matched Gorsich with 21 digs. Taylor Carey blocked five shots. Ellie Bildstein and Gorsich had four blocks.

Kirkwood - Volleyball

No. 4 Eagles flattened by Southeastern

The Kirkwood women's volleyball team ran into a formidable opponent  Wednesday night in the ICCAC conference opener at Johnson Hall.

The fourth-ranked Eagles were swept by Southeastern Community College,  25-21, 25-20, 25-22, on their home floor.

Kirkwood fell to 6-4 overall for the campaign. Southeastern squared  its record at 5-5.

Aubrin Dittmer and Anna Gorsich had eight kills for Kirkwood. Olivia  Richards, Taylor Carey and Maggie Peters had four apiece.
