Kudumovic named MMU women's soccer coach

Mount Mercy Hall of Famer and NAIA all-American Alen Kudumovic has  been chosen to lead the women's soccer program at Mount Mercy,  Athletic Director Paul Gavin announced Thursday. Kudumovic will assume  the role Dec. 16.

"It's my pleasure to welcome Alen back to Mount Mercy," said Gavin.  "His commitment, dedication and passion for the sport of soccer, along  with his love for this university, is a winning combination that will  strengthen our women's soccer program and support efforts to ensure  quality student-athlete experiences in sport and academics."

Kudumovic graduated from Mount Mercy in 2003 with a degree in business  administration and earned a masters in strategic leadership from the  university in 2018. While pursuing his graduate degree, he served as  the graduate assistant coach for the Mustang men's soccer program from  2016-18.

Mount Mercy - Women's Soccer

McMurrin resigns as Mustangs coach

Raven McMurrin has resigned as the Mount Mercy women's soccer coach  after 13 years, Athletic Director Paul Gavin announced Friday.

McMurrin compiled an 80-147-13 record with the Mustangs. Her 80  victories are the most in school history by a women's soccer coach.

The Mustangs struggled this season with a 1-15-1 overall record and  0-11 mark in the Heart of America Conference.

Grand View sweeps Mount Mercy

GRAND VIEW - The 16th-ranked Grand View men's soccer team scored four  unanswered goals Wednesday and topped Mount Mercy, 4-2, in a Heart of  America Conference match in Des Moines.

Mount Mercy took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on an unassisted goal  by Duarte Leite, but Grand View responded with four straight markers  for a 4-1 advantage.

Nolan Armstrong tallied for the Mustangs in the 84th minute for the  final score.

The outcome left Mount Mercy at 7-8-2 overall and 4-6-1 in the  conference. Grand View got two goals from Daniel Kozma and raised its  records to 12-4 overall and 9-2 in the league.

Mount Mercy - Women's Soccer

No. 20 Baker foils Mustangs in OT

The Mount Mercy men's soccer team battled 20th-ranked Baker to a  scoreless duel for more than 94 minutes Saturday before falling short.

Jordan Alonge scored for Baker in overtime to give the visitors a 1-0  victory in a Heart of America Conference match at the Plaster Athletic  Complex.

Neither team scored in regulation, but Baker prevailed in OT for a  9-5-3 overall record and 6-3-1 mark in the conference. Mount Mercy  fell to 7-7-2 overall and 4-5-1 in the league.

Mount Mercy - Women's Soccer

Mount Mercy soccer blanked twice

The Mount Mercy men's and women's soccer teams had a tough day against  MidAmerica Nazarene Saturday in Heartland Conference matches at the  Plaster Athletic Complex.

The Mount Mercy men were blanked, 4-0, dropping their records to 7-6-2  overall and 4-4-1 in the conference. MidAmerica Nazarene is 6-7-2  overall and 4-3-2 in the league.
