Metro Players in Pro Baseball

The Metro Sports Report provides regular updates on all the Metro graduates in pro baseball. Here is the report through Monday, Aug. 3:

SCOTT SCHEBLER (CR Prairie), Oklahoma City, OF, Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (Dodgers): Schebler went 0-for-4 Monday with an RBI and run scored in a 7-6 victory over New Orleans. He played left field and hit seventh in the lineup. Schebler is hitting .242 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs.

CHAD CHRISTENSEN (CR Washington), Fort Myers, OF, High-A, Florida State League (Twins): Fort Myers was idle Monday. Christensen is batting .258 with two homers and 30 RBIs.

JON KELLER (CR Xavier), Frederick, P, High-A, Carolina League (Orioles): Frederick was idle Monday. Keller has a 3-4 record, 3.96 ERA and four saves.

MITCH KELLER (CR Xavier), Bristol, P, Rookie, Appalachian League (Pirates): Bristol was idle Monday. Keller has a 0-0 record and 3.00 ERA in one appearance this season.

Baseball rankings feature 3 Metro teams

Three Metro baseball teams are ranked in the top-6 of the final Class 4A poll by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Jefferson is ranked No. 3, Prairie No. 5 and Kennedy No. 6.

Waukee and Johnston are ranked 1-2 in Class 4A.

SCOTT SCHEBLER (CR Prairie), Oklahoma City, OF, Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (Dodgers): Schebler has been on the 7-Day Disabled List since July 4 with a hamstring injury. He is hitting .243 with 10 homers and 30 RBIs.

CHAD CHRISTENSEN (CR Washington), Fort Myers, OF, High-A, Florida State League (Twins): Christensen went 1-for-4 Sunday with three strikeouts in a 4-1 loss to Clearwater. He played right field and hit sixth in the lineup. Christensen is hitting .250 with two homers and 28 RBIs.

JON KELLER (CR Xavier), Frederick, P, High-A, Carolina League (Orioles): Keller pitched 2.2 innings Sunday and was credited with a "hold" in a 6-2 victory over Salem. He allowed three hits and one unearned run, with two strikeouts and one walk. Keller a 3-4 record, 3.86 ERA, two holds and three saves.

MITCH KELLER (CR Xavier), Bristol, P, Rookie, Appalachian League (Pirates): Keller has not pitched in any of Bristol's 18 games this season due to a sore right arm.
