Lions roar to Estherville title

ESTHERVILLE - Linn-Mar won all five of its meets and rolled to the title of the Estherville Dual Meet wrestling tournament Saturday.

The Lions crushed their five foes by a combined score of 307-75.

Seven Linn-Mar wrestlers went undefeated -- Noah Ajram, Matt Wempen, Alijah Jeffery, Damon Griffin, Joel Northrup, Andrew Holladay and Justin Green.

City High routs Linn-Mar girls

Mickey Hansche and Haley Lorenzen scored 18 points apiece and No.6 Iowa City High rolled past Linn-Mar, 60-32, Friday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game at Linn-Mar.

Iowa City High improved to 13-2 overall and 6-1 in the Mississippi Division.Linn-Mar is 6-8, 4-4 in the Valley Division.

“We’re a work in progress on defense,” City High Coach Bill McTaggart said. “The key to our victory was that we played better defense tonight and Linn-Mar was cold in their shooting.”

Roth's 18 lead Lions past City High

IOWA CITY - Jimmy Roth scored 18 points and Linn-Mar overwhelmed Iowa City High, 60-37, Friday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball game.

Derik Gogg added 12 points and Jordan Bohannon had 10 for Linn-Mar (4-6, 3-4).

The Lions led 22-14 at halftime.

Wash girls down Linn-Mar bowlers

Kelly Waters fired a 224 high game and 397 series to lead Washington past Linn-Mar, 2689-2427, Friday in girls bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Keely Pernicka also had the line for the Warriors with a 196 high game and 377 series.

Paige Miller shot a 212 high game and 368 series to lead Linn-Mar.

Robe lifts Lions past Washington bowlers

Dreyson Robe fired three strikes in the final frame of the Baker round to lift Linn-Mar past Washington, 3188-3183, in boys bowling Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Washington battled back from a 48-pin deficit at the end of the first round.

Washington's Quincy Bruce tossed three strikes in his final frame of the Baker round to put the pressure on Robe, who needed two strikes and a six count to pull out the win.

Instead, Robe struck out for the five-pin victory.
