Diercks paces Lions by Dubuque Senior

DUBUQUE - Mekena Diercks rolled a 346 series Friday to help the Linn-Mar Lions defeat Dubuque Senior, 2459-2354, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Cherry Lanes in Dubuque.

Montana Meyer of Senior took top honors with a 389 series.

LINN-MAR: Hannah Bates 168+163 = 331, Katie Routhe 161+150=311, Abbie Smith 138+167=305, Brittni Krause 123+152=275, Mekena Diercks 166+180=346, Alexis Tschantz 168+139=307.

DUBUQUE SENIOR: Montana Meyer 200+189=389, Kayla Hanten 154+113=267, Natalee Leib 158+110=268, Shanice Schmidt 151+193=344, Sydni Kirk 117+126=243, Macy Schmidt 173+214=387.

Linn-Mar: 1600 + 859 = 2459.

Dubuque Senior: 1655 + 699 = 2354.

 

Wyant leads Lions against Rams

DUBUQUE – Ryan Wyant rolled a 233 game and a 466 series to lead the Linn-Mar boys bowling team in a 2,934-2,819 loss to Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday.

 

Printy paces Lions by City High

Jared Printy scored 20 points as four players reached double digits, leading the Linn-Mar boys basketball team to an 80-63 win over Iowa City High in a Mississippi Valley Conference game Friday at Linn-Mar.

Beau Klostermann scored 19 points, Jordan Bohannon scored 18 and Jordan Brandt added 17 points for the Lions (10-5, 8-3).

City High fell to 10-7 overall.

Ollinger stars as Lions top Little Hawks

IOWA CITY – Amanda Ollinger collected 30 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks to lead the eighth-ranked Linn-Mar girls basketball team to a 69-60 win over No. 3 Iowa City High in a back-and-forth Mississippi Valley Conference game Friday at City High.

The Little Hawks jumped to a 49-46 lead after the third quarter, but the Lions finished with a 23-11 run to win it.

Kamryn Finley scored 17 points for the Lions (14-4, 9-2) and Ally Johnson added 16 points.

Ashley Joens had 22 points and Sydney Schroder added 16 for the Little Hawks (15-3, 9-2).

Cougars 7th, Lions 8th in girls rankings

The Kennedy girls basketball team fell from No. 6 to No. 7 in the latest Class 5A rankings, released Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Linn-Mar claimed the No. 8 spot in Class 5A, moving up from No. 10 last week. Washington stayed 15th.

Marion maintained its No. 7 ranking in Class 4A from a week ago.
