Bohannon's 27 points lead Lions past East, 76-64

WATERLOO - Jordan Bohannon scored 27 points and Nic Uhlir and Lane Halupnik combined for 25 to power Linn-Mar past Waterloo East, 76-64, Friday night in a boys basketball game at East.

Bohannon knocked down three 3-pointers, and Uhlir and Halupnik added two apiece.

Linn-Mar outscored East 39-27 in the second half to break away from a 37-all tie at halftime.

Linn-Mar girls bury Waterloo East, 67-17

Kristie Sommer scored 21 points and Taylor Robertson added 12 to lead Linn-Mar past Waterloo East, 67-17, Friday night in girls basketball at the Linn-Mar gym.

Claire Larson had 10 points for Linn-Mar.

Linn-Mar led 20-11 after one quarter and 46-13 at halftime.

Makayla Marquand led East with seven points.

Lion bowlers roll past Wahlert

Colby Frye and Andrew Yeisley shot 465 and 464 series, respectively, and Linn-Mar overpowered Dubuque Wahlert, 3025-2431, Friday in boys bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Yeisley had high game of 250. Frye shot games of 239 and 226.

Seth Tegtmeier, Kaleb Foye and Josh Wilcox also rolled 200 games for the Lions.

McMorran rocks Lions past Wahlert

Brooke McMorran had the hot hand Friday, rolling games of 191 and 257 for a 448 series that led Linn-Mar past Dubuque Wahlert, 2571-2379, in girls bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Dorian Whitlock rolled a 229 game for Linn-Mar.

Jenks became world traveler in 2013

Stephanie Jenks likes to collect souvenirs when she travels to her triathlons and cross country meets, but she has a plan when it comes to new articles of clothing.

Just like in her races, timing is everything. She's learned to wait until after an event to collect T-shirts and sweatshirts.

"I'm kind of a 'stuff' person, so I love getting things," she explained. "But I don't want a bad memory of the race. I don't want that sitting in my closet if I didn't do well, so I wait to see how it turns out. It just seemed like I was jinxing myself every time."

There weren't too many jinxes this year, however.
