Kelly shares medalist honors for Indians

WASHINGTON - Ian Kelly of Marion High School shot a 9-over-par 79 Saturday to share medalist honors at the Washington Invitational at the Washington Country Club.

Derek Anding of Washington (Iowa) also had a 79.

The Washington Demons won the title. Marion placed third out of six teams.

Smith trimmed Nathan Dvorak, 10-8, at No. 1 singles.

Marion boys topped by Oelwein

The Marion boys tennis team was defeated by Oelwein, 6-3, in a Wamac Conference meet at Marion Tuesday.

Aaron Smith, Caleb Scott and Nate Meister won their matches to give Marion a 3-3 split in singles competition, but Oelwein swept all three doubles matches.
