Brown wins shot put for Marion girls

Mahlia Brown won the shot put for the Marion Indians at the Marion Early Bird girls track meet Thursday at Thomas Park.

Brown's winning toss measured 33 feet, 9.5 inches.

Marion also won the distance medley.

Cascade won eight of 19 events.

Marion girls nip CPU in golf

CENTER POINT - The Marion Indians trimmed Center Point-Urbana, 235-239, in a Wamac Conference girls golf meet Tuesday.

Ashley Ohl led Marion with an 18-over-par 53. Anna Martinson shot a 54 for the Indians.

Mallory Thurm of Center Point-Urbana was the medalist with a 50.

 

 

 

 

Marion girls trim Mount Vernon

Emilie Reider, Allison Edwards, Kali Gamerdinger and Madison Wilson won their singles matches Monday as the Marion Indians nipped Mount Vernon, 5-4, in a Wamac Conference girls tennis meet at Marion.

Reider defeated Taylor Goetschius, 9-7, at No.1 singles.

Duval nets hat trick for Marion

TAMA - Enoch Duval scored three goals Monday as the Marion Indians rallied for a 5-3 victory over South Tama in a Wamac Conference soccer match in Tama.

The Indians trailed at halftime, 3-2, but scored three straight goals for the victory.

Justin Thompson scored twice for Marion. Daniel Tribble, Carter Stigge and Ben Kroemer collected assists. Will Byers made 11 saves.

 

 

 

 

 

Carstensen leads Marion golfers

Benton Community nudged the Washington Demons and Marion Indians in a triangular boys golf meet at the Gardner Golf Course Monday.

Benton finished with 169 strokes, followed by Washington (171) and Marion (172).

John Carstensen led Marion with a 41.

Benton (169): Landon Pace 40, Hunter Livermore 41, Brennen Pace 44,  Luke Stoll 44.

Washington (171): Derek Anding 40, Mason Rich 42, Ryan Waite 43, Blake Weidman 46, Tanner Coleman 46.
