Indians scorched by Western Dubuque

EPWORTH - Zach Prucha had the hot hand for Marion Friday, rolling games of 257 and 216 for a 473 series, but the Indians got scorched by Western Dubuque, 3331-2864, in boys bowling.

Western Dubuque's Brad Schroeder rolled a pair of 257 games for a 514 series. Two others cracked the 470 barrier.

Smith rolls 387 series for Indians

EPWORTH - Bre Smith rolled a 387 series and 202 high game Friday in Marion's 2595-2451 loss to Western Dubuque in girls bowling.

MARION (2451): Aleann Romo 185-131=316, Camryn Brice 186-149=335, Bre Smith 185-202=387, Justeen Schoner 134-144=278, Taylor Lamm 181-167=348

WESTERN DUBUQUE (2595): Kayla Horsfield 178-160=338, Britney Neyen 190-157=347, Emily Benn 176-160=336, Miriah Kluesner 183-177=360, Lisa Schroeder 172-201=373, Brooke Kluesner 140-167=307

Marion girls fall to West Delaware in finale

Reeann McCarty scored 18 points to help West Delaware offset some ghastly free-throw shooting to beat Marion, 52-42, Thursday night in a Wamac regular-season finale at Marion.

Amanda Sahm and Michalyn Mohr scored 16 points apiece to lead Marion (6-15, 6-12).

West Delaware made only 6 of 18 free throws. Marion connected on 6 of 12.

Solon slips past Marion boys, 47-40

Solon outscored Marion by eight points in the second quarter to build a four-point lead it never surrendered and the Spartans beat Marion, 47-40, Tuesday night in Wamac boys basketball at Marion.

Marion's Daly Quinn scored 12 points to lead all scorers.

Marion fell to 8-12 overall and 7-11 in the Wamac.

Marion outscored Solon 38-35 from the field, but the Spartans held a 12-2 advantage at the free-throw line.

Sahm scores 16 in loss to Solon

SOLON - Amanda Sahm scored 16 points to lead all scorers, but her Marion Indians were beaten by Solon, 42-33, Tuesday night in Wamac Conference girls basketball.

Marion (6-14, 6-11) led 8-6 after the first quarter.

Solon closed the second quarter with an 11-2 run that gave the Spartans a 19-13 lead they never surrendered.
