VanDraska wins 800 at North Scott

ELDRIDGE — Tysen VanDraska of Cedar Rapids Prairie won the 800 meter run in 2:01.65 Tuesday at the Deac Ryan Relays at North Scott High School.

Prairie placed third out of 11 teams in the standings. Pleasant Valley won the meet, and Iowa City West finished second.

The Hawks got second-place showings from Trevor Northrup in the 100 (11.36), Michael Lamparek in the discus (140-2), the 4x100 relay and the 4x800 relay.

Prairie got third-place finishes from Mitch Pritts in the 1600 (4:30.02), Lamparek in the shot put (48-2), the 4x200 relay and the 4x400 relay.

Prairie girls roll in tennis

Vale Caro defeated Ellana Wolf, 10-4, at No.1 singles Tuesday as Prairie rolled by Dubuque Senior, 8-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls tennis meet at Prairie.

Magui Caro, Michelle Grenn, Bri Kalous and Karleigh Schilling also won their singles matches for the Hawks.

Prairie girls boot Regina, 2-0

Hannah Kousheh and Jordan Cadena scored goals Tuesday as Cedar Rapids Prairie blanked Iowa City Regina, 2-0, in a girls soccer match at Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids.

Adelaide Bayne and Kousheh collected assists for the Hawks in their first match for new coach Doug Graham.

Prairie wins 3 races in Washington

WASHINGTON, Iowa —  Isaiah Vlasek, Tysen VanDraska and Jalen Rima won races Friday for Cedar Rapids Prairie at the Washington Relays.

Vlasek claimed the 3200 in 10 minutes, 3.11 seconds. VanDraska captured the 1600 in 4:28.58. Rima won the 200 in 23.42 seconds.

Prairie got second-place showings from Michael Lamparek in the shot put (47-3), Trevor Northrup in the 100 (11.72), Jake Moore in the 1600 (4:30.17) and the 4x800 relay (8:54.51).

The Hawks received third-place finishes from Mitch Pritts in the 3200 (10:09.77), Ty Bolden in the 200 (24.22) and Preston LaGrange in the 800 (2:10.62).

West Burlington/Notre Dame won the championship with 146 points. Prairie finished ninth out of 23 teams with 83.5 points.

Hutchins set for All-Star Game

Six high school basketball players from the Cedar Rapids Metro area will participate in the 4th Annual Eastern Iowa All-Star Games at Kirkwood Community College on Wednesday.

A.J. Carter of Kennedy and Jacob Olson of Jefferson will play in the boys game that's scheduled to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Katie Sommer of Linn-Mar, Kristie Sommer of Linn-Mar, Morgan Martin of Kennedy and Cyerra Hutchins of Prairie will play in the girls game at 6 p.m.

A 3-point shootout will be held during halftime of the girls game, and a dunk contest will be held during halftime of the boys game.

Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for students. Doors open at 5:30.
