Xavier girls sweep J-Hawks in tennis

The Xavier Saints won 90 out of 100 games Tuesday and banked  Cedar Rapids Jefferson, 9-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls tennis meet at Jefferson.

Kylie DeWees defeated Kylie Jones, 10-2, at No.1 singles.

Saints 1, Cougars 2 in girls soccer

The Xavier Saints have been ranked No.1 in the initial Class 2A girls soccer poll of the 2014 campaign by the IGHSAU.

The Saints have won eight state titles in a row, an unprecedented accomplishment in any girls sport in Iowa.

The Kennedy Cougars are ranked No.2 in Class 3A and the Linn-Mar Lions are ranked No.4 in Class 3A.

Xavier girls net 7-2 victory

Kylie DeWees, Allison Jasper, Claire Bouchard, Jeanne Bouchard, Katie Neumeyer and Emma Deignan won their singles matches Monday as the Xavier Saints topped Waterloo Columbus, 7-2, in a girls tennis meet at Xavier.

DeWees defeated Gabby Greco, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.

Xavier ranked No. 1 in boys soccer

The Xavier Saints have been ranked No. 1 in Class 2A in the first boys soccer rankings of the 2014 season by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Four Metro teams are ranked in Class 3A with Kennedy at No. 4, Washington at No .6, Linn-Mar at No. 8 and Prairie at No. 13. Defending state champion Iowa City West is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.
