Mount Mercy spiked by Clarke

DUBUQUE - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team was swept by Clarke, 25-22, 25-20, 25-19, in a match Tuesday night in Dubuque.

Cori Peterzalek led the Mustangs with 10 kills. Leslie Hoffmann had eight kills, Becca Thomson seven and Olivia Coe seven.

Abbie Perez collected 18 assists for Mount Mercy and Hannah Whitley had 14.

Lauren Stopko finished with 16 digs, Thomson had 15 and Peterzalek 14. Emma Pisarik had four blocks.

Mount Mercy fell to 20-10 for the season. Clarke raised its record to 19-5.

 

Mustang golfers slip to ninth

OSKALOOSA - Mount Mercy fell from fifth to ninth place on the second day of the William Penn Classic on Monday at the Edmundson Golf Course.

The Mustangs shot 368 after shooting 349 on Sunday for a combined 717. Meg Monson led Mount Mercy with an 87 in windy conditions. Her two-day total of 166 was good for 16th place. Host William Penn won the title with a 632.

William Penn's Demi Coertze took medalist honors with a two-day total of 152.

Mosbach leads Mount Mercy to title

DAVENPORT - Liz Mosbach of Mount Mercy captured top honors at the Saint Ambrose Invitational cross country meet Saturday and led the Mustangs to the team championship.

Mosbach finished in 19 minutes, 24 seconds for a 24-second victory.

Evan Bowman of Mount Mercy placed second in the men's race to help the Mustangs finish fourth in their team standings. He finished 13 seconds behind the winner in 26:06.

Katie Hoffert placed third for the Mount Mercy women and Dana Ewan was eighth. Colton Forster finished sixth for the Mount Mercy men and James Lindstrom was ninth.

Mount Mercy men blank Viterbo

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Jamesser Minthor and Filip Kovacevic scored goals Saturday as the Mount Mercy men's soccer team blanked Viterbo, 2-0, in La Crosse, Wis.

Minthor collected his sixth goal of the season in the 12th minute of the match with an assist from Eric Pfau. Kovacevic connected in the 22nd minute with an assist from Jamie Booth.

Tomas Zajfert made three saves in goal for the shutout.

Mount Mercy raised its record to 11-3. Viterbo fell to 5-8-1.

 

Hoffmann helps Mustangs spike Waldorf

FOREST CITY – Leslie Hoffmann had 17 kills to lead the Mount Mercy volleyball team to a 3-2 win over Waldorf Friday night.

Mount Mercy prevailed 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 13-25, 15-12.

Cori Peterzalek had 22 digs, Lauren Stopko had 20 digs, Becca Thompson added 10 digs, and Allie McQuiston had three service aces.

Mount Mercy improved to 20-9, while Waldorf fell to 5-21.
