Cedar Rapids Kennedy senior Trevor Heitland will play football at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge next season, he said Saturday night.

Heitland, 5-foot-11, was a first-team selection on the all-Metro and all-Mississippi Valley Conference teams last fall as a wide receiver/tailback.

He collected 2,185 yards and 27 touchdowns in total offense as a junior and receiver. He rushed for 929 yards as a junior, then ran for 714 yards and caught 29 passes for 542 yards as a senior.

Heitland said he'll be a receiver/slotback at Iowa Central and also could see time at running back. Iowa Central finished 6-4 last season under Coach Kevin Twait.

Heitland is averaging 9.4 points as a starting guard for the Kennedy boys basketball team.
