WEST DES MOINES - The third-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy boys soccer team was nipped by No. 1 West Des Moines Valley, 2-1, in the opening round of the West Des Moines Valley tournament Friday night.
Nick Bruns scored for the Cougars (4-1), with assists by Matt Peak and Gabe Christianson.
The tournament continues Saturday.
