DUBUQUE - The Kennedy High School boys soccer team broke into the victory column Thursday with a 1-0 victory at Dubuque Wahlert in a Mississippi Valley Conference game.

Sophomore Nick Waterhouse scored for the Class 3A 13th-ranked Cougars (1-2) on assists by junior Eric Bertroche and senior Riley Galbraith. Wahlert, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, fell to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the MVC.

Kennedy visits Class 3A No. 2 West Des Moines Valley on Friday.
