WEST DES MOINES - The Cedar Rapids Kennedy boys soccer team beat Norwalk on Saturday, but the Cougars could not beat Mother Nature.

Kennedy's second match Saturday against Pleasant Valley was stopped with seven minutes left in the first half due to lightning and tornado warnings.

Kennedy trimmed Norwalk, 1-0, on a goal by Nolan Butler and an assist by Matt Shannon. The Cougars are ranked 13th in Class 3A and Norwalk is ranked No. 4 in Class 2A.

Kennedy (2-4) began the tournament Friday night with a 2-0 loss to No. 2 West Des Moines Valley. The winners got goals from Eric Williams and Francisco Lynch.
