Taylor Sohn pitched a four-hitter as the Kennedy softball team defeated Waterloo West, 4-3, in the first game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader at Kennedy Thursday.

Waterloo West won the nightcap, 8-4.

Sohn struck out seven batters in the opener. Taylor Wagner had a two-run double for the Cougars, Heather McKinnon went 2-for-2 with a triple and Tanner Rathjens was 3-for-3. Jaclyn Spencer went 2-for-3 witih a two-run double for Waterloo West.

McKinnon socked a three-run homer and Wagner hit a solo homer for Kennedy in the second game. Lindsey Hansen went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer to lead the Wahawks. Brenna Gray went 3-for-4 and was the winning pitcher.
