EASTLAKE, Ohio - It took nearly two years between complete games by a Cedar Rapids Kernels pitcher.
Brett Lee tossed his second in as many starts Friday night at Classic Park.
Lee scattered six hits and struck out 10 to lead the Kernels to a 4-1 win over the Lake County Captains in a Midwest League baseball game played before a crowd of 5,557.
Adam Brett Walker slugged a pair of home runs and drove in three runs to power the Kernels offense.
The win gave the Kernels a sweep of their three-game series against the Captains and boosted their lead in the Western Division to two games.
Lee (7-4) faced five batters over the minimum. He walked one.
Lee tossed the first complete game by a Cedar Rapids pitcher since the 2011 season in his last outing, a 7-1 win over Dayton on July 12.
Walker has seven home runs in his last eight games. He has driven in 83 runs, tied for tops in the Midwest League.
The Kernels took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning on a fielder's choice groundout by Niko Goodrum.
Lake County answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run by Eric Haase that tied the game, 1-1.
Walker belted a home run leading off the top of the sixth inning, then lined a two-run home run in the seventh.
Max Kepler had three of the Kernels' 10 hits.
The Kernels open a three-game series at Fort Wayne Saturday at 5:05 p.m. (Iowa time).
