WEST BURLINGTON - The 11th-ranked Kirkwood softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Southeastern, 12-0 and 12-1, Tuesday in West Burlington.
Both games ended early due to the eight-run mercy rule.
Lexi Quandt went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and six RBIs for Kirkwood in the first game. Brooke Prior was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Chasney Jenkins went 3-for-3 and scored twice.
Nicky Simpson pitched a one-hitter for four innings for the Eagles in the opener. Allie Mengler tossed the fifth and final inning.
Jenkins was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBIs in the second game. Mengler went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Alicia Crivaro socked a home run and drove in two runs.
Prior struck out eight batters in five innings. Mengler pitched the sixth and final frame.
Kirkwood raised its record to 34-8. Southeastern fell to 10-28.
