Kennedy boys win Muscatine Invy

MUSCATINE - Derek Jacobus and the Cedar Rapids Kennedy track team were big winners at the Dave Matthews Invitational in Muscatine on Monday.

Jacobus won three gold medals and the Cougars claimed top honors in the team standings with 110 points, topping Davenport West by 25 markers.

Jacobus, who placed second in the long jump at the Drake Relays, won his specialty on Monday with a modest leap of 19 feet, 11 inches. He also ran the anchor on Kennedy's victorious 4x100 and 4x200 relays.

The Cougars placed second in six events to pile up points in the team standings.
