Linn-Mar sophomore Nate Greve pitched a three-hitter Monday as the Lions defeated Iowa City West, 6-1, in the second game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader at Linn-Mar.

Iowa City West won the first game, 13-0, in five innings.

Greve struck out nine batters and scattered three singles. Iowa City West (6-5, 2-4) collected 11 hits in the opener, but Greve kept the Trojans under control in the nightcap.

"That was one of the most impressive performances I've seen on the mound against a quality hitting team like Iowa City West," Linn-Mar Coach Chad Lechner said. "He was in complete control the entire game."

Ben Larison hit a home run and drove in two runs for Linn-Mar (6-5, 3-3) in the nightcap.
