Jochimsen leads Linn-Mar bowlers

IOWA CITY -- Trent Jochimsen rolled a 266 high game and a 476 series to lead Linn-Mar past Iowa City West, 3059-2950, Friday in boys bowling.

Austin Swanson rolled a 424 series and had a high game of 228 for Linn-Mar.

Linn-Mar held a 145-pin lead after the first round singles.

Robe, Tegtmeier pace Lions to win

Dreyson Robe rolled a 479 series and Seth Tegtmeier a 471 to fire Linn-Mar past Iowa City High, 3260-2653, Friday in boys bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Robe shot games of 245 and 234. Tegtmeier rolled games of 243 and 228.

Justin Wyant rolled a 429 series and Trent Jochimsen a 407 for Linn-Mar.

City High's Kolby Melsha shot high game with a 264 en route to a 411 series.

Tegtmeier fires Lions past Hempstead

Seth Tegtmeier rolled games of 247 and 205 for a 452 series that led Linn-Mar past Hempstead, 2882-2625, in boys bowling Tuesday at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Trent Joschimsen fired a 236 game, Justin Wyant a 209 and Dreyson Robe a 203 for Linn-Mar.

The match was the first of the season for both teams.

Wyant named 1st team MVC & Metro

Cedar Rapids Washington junior Quincy Bruce nabbed a couple of top honors Friday.

Bruce was named the Athlete of the Year in the Mississippi Valley Conference (Mississippi Division) and on the all-Metro team in a vote by coaches.

Prairie's Brogan Fiala also reaped a top honor. He was named the Athlete of the Year in the MVC Valley Division.

Bruce averaged 219.3 pins per game and led the Warriors to a Class 2A state tournament berth. Fiala had a 219.4 average and helped the Hawks to a 2A berth.

Justin Wyant of Linn-Mar, Zach Trcka of Jefferson, and Brandon Wagner of Prairie joined Bruce and Fiala on both the MVC and all-Metro first teams.

Dreyson Robe of Linn-Mar was first team all-MVC. Jeremy Cline of Prairie was first team all-Metro.

Washington's Monica Reeves was named Coach of the Year in the MVC Mississippi Division. Prairie's Don Wilfong and Kevin Cline earned the honor in the MVC Valley Division. Cline and Xavier's Russ Camacho were the Metro Coaches of the Year.

Linn-Mar - Boys Bowling

Cline and Kacena fire Hawks past Lions

Jeremy Cline rolled a 468 series and Josh Kacena a 465 to lead Prairie past Linn-Mar, 3137-3081, Tuesday in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Cline, who rolled a 300 game last Friday, fired games of 256 and 212. Kacena had games of 254 and 211.

Zach Bolton had a 430 series and Brogan Fiala a 405 for Prairie.

Linn-Mar's Justin Wyant shot high game (257) and series (479). Seth Tegtmeier also had a hot hand and fired a 437 series for the Lions.

Prairie built 75-pin lead in the first round. Linn-Mar won the Baker round, but could only make up 19 pins on the Hawks.

Both teams play in the Class 2A qualifying tournament Thursday at Lancer Lanes.
