Lions blanked twice in Iowa City losses

IOWA CITY -- Linn-Mar couldn't find the back of the net in either game and the No. 12 Lions were shut out by No. 6 Iowa City High and No. 9 Iowa City West on Saturday in a pair of Mississippi Valley Conference boys soccer games.

City High scored a pair of goals in the first half, then added three more in the second en route to a 5-0 win over the Lions. The Little Hawks had nine shots on goal to one for Linn-Mar.

Iowa City West scored an early goal in the first half, then added a pair in the final 10 minutes to beat the Lions, 3-0.

Linn-Mar (4-6, 2-6 MVC) has been outscored 10-0 in its last three games, all against ranked foes.
