Linn-Mar downed Western Dubuque, 4-0, Monday night in a Class 3A substate boys soccer game at Linn-Mar Stadium.

The Lions held a 1-0 lead at halftime on the strength of a Ryan Gingrich goal scored 12 minutes into the game.

Eric Pfau's unassisted goal early in the second half gave Linn-Mar some breathing space, and Brian Simons and Jon Paulson scored goals three minutes apart late in the game to put it away.

Linn-Mar (9-8) advances to a substate semifinal Wednesday at Waterloo West (10-8).

Western Dubuque finished its season at 8-7-1.
